I am very excited to continue being part of Somerset Academy Silver Palms. I am originally from La Habana, Cuba and attended the University there; here in United State I attend Florida International University. I have a Bachelor Degree in Science in Teaching Spanish as well as a Master Degree of Science in Education, besides I have a Certification to teach Advanced Placement Spanish Language, and Advance Placement Spanish Literature.
I believe that teaching is the best job in the world, and I have been doing it for more than 10 years. It is exciting to work in a challenging environment where I influence and guide young and energetic students. My favorite thing about being a teacher is that I learn as much as my students do.
As the facilitator of instruction, I try my best to encourage my students and individualize my instruction to best meets their needs. I encourage all students to take an active role in their learning; therefore, I try to incorporate as much hands-on learning and open discussion as possible. I also believe that parents are the driving force behind their children’s success. I encourage all parents to take an active role in their children’s academics.
Please, keep in mind that a language is not acquired overnight. Just as for a first language, there is a gradual process for learning a second one. It takes time and patience, and it is important to know that mistakes are a completely natural part of the process. Remember that it took years to learn to speak well in your first language, and that the second one will take time.
Learning to speak another language is one of the most gratifying experiences a person can have. I know that you will benefit from the effort, and will acquire a skill that will serve to enrich your life. We have an exciting school year full of learning experiences ahead of us. Together we can strive to make this year a memorable one.
“Aprende una nueva lengua y descubrirás todo un mundo nuevo.”
“Learn a new language, and you'll discover a whole new world.”
