News and Announcements

Good evening parents.  This is Kerri O’Sullivan, Principal of Silver Palms.  After the tragedy in Connecticut, it forced me to review our current safety plan and enhance them.  Beginning Wednesday, there are several procedures in the MAIN building that will be new to ensure the safety of our students and staff members.  First, ALL fifth grade students will be dropped off in drop off and sent to the cafeteria until 7:55 a.m. when their teacher will escort them to class.  Any parent who wishes to wait with their child until 7:55 a.m. must do so OFF campus (in their car, outside the gates).  ALL gates surrounding the school, including the parking lot, will be locked at 8:00 a.m.  Visitor parking will be across the street on ANY side of the building.  Next, ALL parent and visitors will enter ONLY through the small gate on 232 Street.  A security guard will be there to check each person in.  This procedure includes parents entering for conferences, meetings, concerns and early dismissals.  Lastly, dismissal procedures will change as well.  All students dismissing at 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the MAIN building will either go to drop off or to the picnic tables located next to 232 Street (this is where parents waiting for their children should go).  No parents will be allowed on campus to wait for their child.  In the NEW building, a security guard will be placed outside the main office to check in any parent/visitor.  For pick up, parents will be asked to wait until their child has been released before moving into the cafeteria.  Any parent arriving for the 2:00 p.m. dismissal and waiting for the 3:00 p.m. dismissal will be asked to wait on the RED benches in the front of the school.  Thank you so much for understanding the need for increased and heightened security to ensure your child is in the safest possible environment every day.  Have a wonderful night.
